How to Choose CRI & Beam Angle for Commercial LED Track Spotlights

When clients place bulk orders for track lighting, they often only focus on power, color temperature and black/white housing color, ignoring two core optical parameters: CRI rendering index and beam angle. Improper parameter selection will lead to dull product display, uneven light irradiation and poor overall decoration effect, especially for clothing boutiques, jewelry shops, art galleries and brand retail stores that have high requirements for light quality.

1. CRI Color Rendering Index: The Key to True Color Restoration

CRI refers to the ability of a light source to restore the real color of objects. The higher the value, the more realistic and vivid the displayed items look under the lamp.

  • CRI ≥80: Basic standard, suitable for supermarkets, warehouse aisles, corridors and general office auxiliary lighting, cost-effective for large-area basic illumination.
  • CRI ≥90: High rendering grade, the most popular option for clothing stores, shoe shops, gift shops and furniture showrooms. Fabrics, leather textures and product colors can be presented without distortion, greatly improving customers’ shopping desire.
  • CRI ≥95: Ultra-high professional level, specially customized for art galleries, painting exhibition halls, jewelry and watch counters, which can restore the most delicate color and luster details.

As a practical suggestion: remind your buyers to choose CRI90 as the default standard for all retail display projects, and upgrade to CRI95 only for high-end display scenarios to control overall project budget reasonably.

2. Beam Angle Selection: Control Light Focus & Coverage Range

Different beam angles determine the light concentration and irradiation area of track spotlights. We commonly supply 15°, 24°, 36° and 60° four standard angles for wholesale orders, each with fixed application scenarios.

15° / 24° Narrow Beam Angle

Strong light gathering capacity, forming a concentrated light spot on the target surface. Perfect for single mannequin lighting, window focal display, artwork hanging painting lighting and logo accent lighting, creating strong three-dimensional layering and visual focus in the space.

36° Medium Beam Angle

The most versatile universal angle. Balanced concentration and coverage, widely used for clothing hanging racks, shelf commodity lighting, showroom product partition display. It will not produce too strong hard shadows and can cover a complete display area stably.

60° Wide Flood Beam Angle

Large-area flood lighting, soft and uniform light, mainly used for background wall atmosphere lighting, large wall decorative painting overall illumination, or auxiliary ambient lighting for the whole store space.

3. Matching Combination Tips for Actual Store Layout

For a complete retail shop lighting scheme, it is never a single beam angle. We usually recommend this collocation to contractors:

1.Shop window & entrance focal point: Use 15° narrow beam high CRI track lights to attract pedestrian attention from outside;

2.Clothing hanging racks and display shelves: Mainly equipped with 24° or 36° medium angle lamps for daily product illumination;

3.Background wall and decorative area: Add a small number of 60° wide angle spotlights to enrich the space atmosphere.

4. Bulk Order Reminders for Optical Parameters

1.Unify CRI standard in one batch: Avoid mixing CRI80 and CRI90 lamps in the same project, which will cause obvious color difference on site;

2.List beam angles clearly in the order sheet: Mark the quantity of each angle separately for production and delivery, prevent delivery mistakes;

3.Coordinate with color temperature: High CRI track lights are better matched with 3000K warm white or 4000K neutral white for commercial display effect.

If you need parameter spec sheets, light spot comparison diagrams or bulk factory prices for high CRI commercial track spotlights, please send your project type, required CRI grade and beam angle list to us for a detailed official quotation.
